Blue Ruin has officially been released in the theaters. The reviews have been outstanding and Entertainment Weekly just announced it was their No. 2 must see for the week. I play Hope Cleland, the hardened cousin of the Cleland clan.
Whew! So many things have changed in the past few months, except my website. I thought I should jump on here and say “Hello”, plus let you know what’s been going on. Here’s the gist of it:
- Recorded my EP – Acted in Blue Ruin – Ruminated over the EP mixes for a few months – Played some shows – Finalized the mixes – Moved to LA – Blue Ruin accepted into the Cannes Film Festival Director’s Fortnight – Played at the Roxy with Sweet Soubrette - This very nice article was written about me – Blue Ruin picked up by The Weinstein Company – Album sent into Mastering – Booked a job playing piano in swanky Beverly Hills — Onward and Upward!
I’ve never seen Blue Ruin and I’m sure it will be a shocker. I was aged and haggardized with some makeup stuff. The EP I’m about to release was funded through kickstarter. LA is great. Lilly is now 16 months old. She was 7 months old when the EP was recorded and the film shot. She just now woke up from her nap. So I gotta go!
I’ll be heading into the studio on September 14th, thanks to all my Kickstarter backers. It’s been many years since I’ve had this opportunity and I can’t wait to emerge with a shiny new EP for you. Actually, it will most likely be printed on uncoated stock, but that’s really not the point. I’ll be recording in Kentucky at Shangri La studios with producer Duane Lundy. He recently did a project called 10in20. Not only are the bands pretty awesome, the videos from the project really show off the feel of the studio. Stay tuned for CD release news…
